Vision

25-Year Vision

Our shared vision is to work together with local communities and partners to significantly increase the extent and health of our treescapes and equality of access to them, over the next 25 years.

We do this to enhance the beauty and biodiversity of our local landscape, combat and adapt to climate change, improve air quality, reduce flooding risk, create work and training opportunities, and bring our woodlands closer to home for recreation and health.

These goals, rooted in our shared vision, set a clear and ambitious path for Cumbria Community Forest over the next 25 years, ensuring environmental, social, and cultural enrichment.

Our four central goals are to: deliver healthy treescapes; create access to trees and woodlands; facilitate community stewardship of trees and woodlands; and become a national centre celebrating neurodivergent culture.

Guiding Principles

Raise has created these principles to guide the approach to creating Cumbria Community Forest. The principles emerged as recommendations from our arts-led engagement pilot programme, informed by the perspectives of Cumbrian communities experiencing barriers to accessing woodland. They have been further shaped by the Raise team and partners of Cumbria Community Forest.
